1ヶ月ほど前から
左耳の奥になんか
違和感があったので、
昨日はマンハッタンの
Mount Sinai Hospital
（マウントサイナイ病院）へ。
事前に問診票に記入し
メールで送っていったら
受付もスムーズ。
ほとんど待ち時間なく
診察スタート。
先生の英語が
早すぎたため
必死に私の拙い
英語で応戦するが
専門用語もあるので
Google翻訳を使おうと
iPhoneを取り出したら、
先生から「通訳呼ぼっか？」
と素敵な提案。
てっきり日本人が来るのかと
思っていたら、Pepper君の
ような機械が運び込まれ
液晶モニタに通訳の方が
すでにスタンバイ。
便利な時代だ。
無料だったので、多分
保険内のサービスで
あれだったら英語が
まだ得意でない日本人でも
まったく意思疎通に問題なく
診察できる。
同時通訳のレベルも高く
少しでもわからないと
詳しく何度でも説明してくれる。
先生「いままで1日以上の入院はありますか？」
私「はい、日本で痔のため1週間入院したことがあります。」
通訳の方は笑うこともなく、任務を次々と遂行し
完璧な対応。
本当に感謝。
結果は、両耳の問題はなく
中耳炎の症状もまったく
ないので、心配不要とのこと。
ただ顎のかみ合わせで
一時的な違和感が
出ているだけのようでした。
安心。
マンハッタンの治安も
通勤時間を狙って
移動していたので、
特に物騒と感じる
場面もなく、久リぶりの
本格外出は無事に
終了となった。
帰りに地下鉄で
読んだ本も、これまた
得るものが大きく
最高の1日。
ラッキー！
とにかく
考えて動くこと
「考動」することを
日課にしよう。
自分の頭で考える。
